Initiatives
These Initiatives are currently under development and open for comment. The goal is to make achievable yet ambitious goals by 2030. These must be measurable, auditable, and produce information to support future action and decisions. We seek to have a tangible impact.
1
Global Environmental Justice
The International Conservation Foundation (ICF) is dedicated to promoting environmental stewardship and conservation efforts worldwide. As part of our commitment to fostering a more equitable and sustainable future, we are proud to introduce the Global Environmental Justice Initiative. This initiative aims to address the intersectional challenges faced by marginalized communities, while fostering ecological balance and social equality. By empowering vulnerable populations and advocating for their rights, we strive to create a more just and inclusive world for all.
2
2030 Desertification Initiative
The International Conservation Foundation (ICF) recognizes the importance of rural communities in the conservation and sustainable management of land and forests. We are committed to enhancing the quality of life for rural populations by launching the Rural Development Initiative. This initiative aims to direct investments towards sustainable land and forest management practices, empowering rural communities to thrive economically, socially, and environmentally. By fostering holistic and inclusive rural development, we seek to create resilient and thriving rural areas that contribute to global sustainability goals.

2030 Wildfire Protection and Restoration Initiative
The 2030 Wildfire Protection and Restoration Initiative is a comprehensive program aimed at addressing the impacts of wildfires, restoring forest ecosystems, protecting vulnerable areas, and promoting sustainable land management practices. The three measurable objectives are:
-
Restore 25,000 acres (10,000 hectares) of forests and other ecosystems lost to wildfire. This involves reforestation, soil treatment, habitat restoration.
-
Protect 100,000 acres (40,500 hectares) of forest and other ecosystems threatened by high severity/high intensity wildfire through sustainable land management.
-
Offset all Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions generated through meeting this objective by 2035
4
2030 Conservation Stewardship Initiative
The 2030 Conservation Stewardship Initiative is a global program dedicated to conserving critical ecosystems and habitats, sequestering carbon, and improving the quality of life for native and indigenous peoples. The initiative aims to bring 100,000 acres (40,500 hectares) of crucial ecosystems worldwide under conservation. It will operate in accordance with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, ensuring alignment with global sustainable development objectives.

2030 Climate Impact Monitoring Initiative
The 2030 Climate Impact Monitoring Initiative is a focused program aimed at monitoring the impact of climate change on flora and human migration. This initiative seeks to map the migration patterns of both natural and artificial flora in North America, including species displaced by disease, agriculture, development (urban, solar, wind, commercial), changes in precipitation and weather, and type conversion after wildfire. Additionally, the initiative aims to map the boundaries and health of specific ecological groups, such as oak woodlands, keystone and threatened/endangered oak, conifer, and desert species.
